Pencil Skirts

Can you wear a pencil skirt?

One of the key trends this season is the pencil skirt.  Now many of you I’m sure will be really pleased about this, while I’m just as certain a lot will be crying  “OMG with my hips, bum, stomach etc!!!!

Well fear not because most body shapes actually look really good in a figure hugging pencil skirt. The trick is making sure the fabric hugs the hips and the waist without looking so tight that it shows every lump and bump and god forbid “VPL!” Make sure you choose a  fabric that is medium weight/thickness and preferably lined.

Now a few simple rules and you can ensure you look like something straight from Madmen!!!

If you are more of a pear shape team it with something voluminous up top in a darker colour for balance. For the petite/ shorter body try wearing 1 continuous colour throughout for added length. To add even more curves for those who are straight up and down look for panelled coloured skirts down the center. For the hour-glass and the well endowed ,well add a belt to emphasise that waist even more combined with a lower neckline in a darker colour up top Ooolaalaaa!!!!

This style is so versatile it can take you straight from the office to the bar for cocktails. Leather is huge this season too and worn with a pussy bow blouse is acceptable for work. Add some python/snakeskin shoes and a coloured handbag, pile on the bling and you’re ready to head straight to the bar when you finish!!!

Olivia Palermo is seen here wearing a rather prim blouse with a sexy leather pencil skirt. The colour helps to keeps it all rather safe! Liven it up for later by adding some colour to the bag and shoes.
